they still sound way good. altecs column speakers are very loud and sound very good

I'll bet with a lot of EQ, they would sound like 4 or 6 Bose 901's (2 or 3 pairs)

I cut my altec teeth with altec 1217's, which are the same thing but with a t-50 university horn on top. and I got kicked out of many rentals because of them. the original line array.. still have them, not much in the way of bass, but very vocal. and until ya here them, ya never knew what an 8 inch speaker can do. also have a set of 840's which these are
